Guns versus Bath Salts

This video got me thinking about the polar opposite responses for mass murder and drug use, namely bath salts and fake weed by the political class.

On one hand we had politicians climbing over each other to outlaw fake weed and bath salts because of couple well publicized incidents where a kid drown and it was blamed on fake weed and another where a guy tried to eat another guy's face. Even though there was no proof in either case that fake weed or bath salts were to blame they still went ahead banned them at record speed. The truth did come out eventually [buried on the back pages], yet that made no difference because politicians everywhere were already bragging about having outlawed this mortal threat to humanity in days.

On the other hand we have had countless mass murders and dozens of daily  deaths directly from guns yet their response is "Now's not the time" or guns aren't the problem it's "bad parents and video games".

We never say "Oh that kid overdosed on [pick a drug], bad parents" or "I blame video games for little Jimmy's drug use". Another thing you will never hear is "Bath Salts don't kill people, people kill people". Somehow when it's anything else besides guns, it's always that things fault and the evil people that use it, yet when it's guns the problem is just one rotten apple and NEVER "we have too many damn guns and too easy access to them in America".

Funny how that works

Jesus vs. Horus: A Christmas Tale Smack down

Christmas Story Smackdown: A comparison of the many similarities between Jesus and Horus, who predated Jesus by 3,000 years.
Jesus vs Horus

Bill O'Reilly and Fox News are perpetuating this myth of "The War on Christmas", for perspective I would like to compare the origins of the Jesus story versus Horus, an Egyptian God. Jesus, if we are to believe the folklore, lived closer in time to us [roughly 2,000 years ago] than he did to Horus [3,000+ years before Jesus]. I offer this comparison merely to show that what many today view as an original and one of a kind story is actual a fairly common tale throughout the ancient world of mythology, with Horus being the originator of the meme.

Jesus: Story written between 1700 and 1900 years ago.
Horus: Story written 5,000+/- years ago.

Jesus: Born to the Virgin Mary, whom had been impregnated by Yahweh.
Horus: Born to the Virgin Goddess Isis, after she retrieved all the dismembered body parts of her murdered husband Osiris, except his penis.

Jesus: Birthday is celebrated on December 25th.
Horus: Birthday is on December 25th.

Jesus: North Star led 3 wise men to him when he was born.
Horus: Eastern Star led 3 wise men to him when he was born.

Jesus: Taken to Egypt to escape the wrath of Herod.
Horus: Taken to Egypt to escape the wrath of Typhon.

Jesus: Taught in a temple as a child.
Horus: Taught in a temple as a child.

Jesus: Baptized by John the Baptist when 30 years old.
Horus: Baptized by Anup the Baptizer when 30 years old.

Jesus: Had 12 disciples.
Horus: Had 12 disciples.

Jesus: Performed miracles and walked on water.
Horus: Performed miracles and walked on water.

Jesus: Raised Lazarus from the dead.
Horus: Raised El-Azur-us from the dead.

Jesus: Was transfigured on a mount.
Horus: Was transfigured on a mount.

Jesus: Titles include "The Way. The truth. The light. The Messiah. God's anointed son. Son of Man. The good shepherd. The Lamb of God. The word. The morning star. The light of the world.
Horus: Titles include "The Way. The truth. The light. The Messiah. God's anointed son. Son of Man. The good shepherd. The Lamb of God. The word. The morning star. The light of the world.

Jesus: Crucified and buried in a tomb and then resurrected on the 3rd day.
Horus: Buried in a tomb and then resurrected on the 3rd day.

American Values: War on Terror vs Medical Research

There is a saying 'Go to your checkbook and see what you spend money on. In an instant, you will know what is important to you because your money goes toward it'. In that light I post this as a comparison and to illustrate what our elected leaders really value, hint it's not you.

$700 billion for defense vs $16 billion medical research.

America spends more on killing people than the entire planet.
America, we are #1, in wars.

As I previously noted in the last post infographic you are 17,000 more likely to die from heart disease than a terrorist attack in America.

*It is worth noting that even the paltry [in comparison to defense spending] money the US government spends on medical research often benefits the drug companies more than average citizens. The taxpayers pay for the research then it is often just given to drug companies for a laughable token amount. The big drug makers will then patent the drugs developed with public dollars for private profit to the tune of hundreds of billions of dollars a year in added costs to consumers.
