Republican led House of Representatives [that is an oxymoron if ever there was one] has voted to stop the US Justice Dept from going after the states for implement onerous voter ID laws meant to make it hard for minorities, students, and elderly from voting. These groups normally vote Democratic, that is why the Republicans feel their best shot at staying in power is to prevent the 'wrong people' from voting.
AMENDMENT PURPOSE:
An amendment to prohibit the use of funds to be used by the Department of Justice to bring any action against any State for implementation of a State law requiring voter identification.
