Romney's Boat Fly's Cayman Islands Flag @ Secret Fundraiser

Any vessel used principally in Maryland that is equipped with mechanical propulsion must register with the Department of Natural Resources and pay vessel excise tax. Federally documented vessels used principally in Maryland do not need to obtain a Maryland title but are required to purchase and display a Maryland Use sticker and pay Maryland vessel excise tax.
A candidate too wealthy to pay taxes.

According to ABC News:

Gov. Mitt Romney's campaign toasted its top donors Wednesday aboard a 150-foot yacht flying the flag of the Cayman Islands. The floating party, hosted by a Florida developer on his yacht "Cracker Bay," was one of a dozen exclusive events meant to nurture those who have raised more than $1 million for Romney's bid.

This is where the "Real Republican Convention" was held, forget the dog and pony show at the stadium in Tampa.

Finally, the truth.

Bottom Line

The success of Regressive Republicans at convincing half the country that Barack Obama is responsible for our soaring debt is surely one of the greatest political propaganda victories of all time.

John McCain "Vote for Mitt because He Will Start 2 New Wars - Iran and Syria"

The speech John McCain gave at the 2012 RNC Convention in Tampa Bay Florida is just amazing in that it sounded like something the Third Reich would have said.  John McCain said "A Mitt Romney Presidency won't let China and Russia tell us what to do. He won't ignore the grave threat to Israel and stand idle while Iran builds nuclear bombs".  Somehow in the McCain's alternative universe the United States bombs countries at will without any real justification or consequences. We are just winding down two very expensive wars, not to mention the dozen or so hidden drone wars we are also in, but according to John McCain we should be invading Syria and Iran also.

Lets take Syria. This what John McCain was referring to about China and Russia telling us what to do. Neither country wants to see another major invasion of a country near their borders. A country they both have long economic ties to. Never mind the US is in no economic or moral position to be dictating orders to Russia and China like Genghis Khan. What is also clear but remains unsaid by people like John McCain is that the rebels in Syria have teamed up with Al Qaeda. So in essence and in fact you can say the GOP has taken up arms with Al Qaeda. While President Bashar al-Assad is hardly a good guy, neither are the people trying to overthrow him, so maybe it's best we mind our own business. Besides we can hardly afford another trillion dollar war.

Next lets take Iran and Israel. Iran has said they have stopped working on trying to build an atomic bomb. Talk is cheap, but the CIA has also said the same thing. Notice I said 'working on', as in 'I am working on losing 20 pounds right after I eat this box of donuts'. To listen to John McCain talk, Iran already has a cold war class arsenal. Did Iran stop their quest to be a member of the nuclear club out of the goodness of their hearts? No. Under President Obama, the US has ratcheted up economic sanctions on Iran, which have only served to hurt it's people more than anything. Question: If you are trying to influence a people or find a diplomatic solution is it really a good idea to destroy their economy? Second we have declared a cyber war on Iran with Stuxnet and many more covert attacks on Iran on a daily basis.  Next there is the concept of fairness. Israel already has according to many expert somewhere between 200 to 400 nuclear bombs ready to deploy today. So Iran gets 1 in maybe 2 or 3 years and the world ends, yet Israel has a bigger nuclear arsenal than the UK, France or China and the GOP yawns?

Never mentioned in any these GOP rants by people like John McCain or Condi Rice is that our invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan was the best thing that ever happened to Iran in decades. Never is it mentioned that Iraq is now best friends with Iran because of our invasion. Never is it mentioned that not a single Weapon of Mass Destruction was ever found in Iraq. Never is it mentioned that the Downing Street memo spelled this out, yet these same people continued to lie about it. Never is it mentioned that these two wars have cost the US trillions. Never is it mentioned that the US spends more on it's Military Empire than the total combined defense budgets of the entire planet.

The GOP never mentions that the US spends more on our Military Empire than the total combined defense budgets of the entire planet.
US Defense Spending in Perspective

Bottom Line

The GOP is detached from reality, don't fall for it.

Romney's Secret to Fame and Fortune

They will dramatically cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid so that guys like Mitt can get another $5 Trillion in tax cuts.
The Ryan Plan

Willard 'Mitt' Romney, is a man that made a $250 million fortune loading up companies with debt and then extracting million-dollar fees from those same companies, in exchange for the generous service of telling them who needs to be fired in order to finance the debt payments he saddled them with in the first place.

Is that Mitt Romney's plan for America? Yep, Paul Ryan already designed the Plan for Mitt, that's why he choose him. They will dramatically cut Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid so that guys like Mitt can get Trillions more in tax cuts.  According to the non-partisan organization, the Tax Policy Center, Romney's plan would raise taxes on the average middle class family by $2,000 to pay for $5 trillion more in tax cuts for millionaires and billionaires.

Sorry 99% you may have built it, but guys like Mitt Romney just stole it.

We don't Need Any Stinking Government, Just Thousands of Heavily Armed Special Forces to Keep Us Safe from Protesters

GOP and Bullshit are synonymous
Bullshit Twins

Limited Government?

The RNC convention in Florida contradicts the parties theme of 'we don't need government'. I guess the thousands of jack booted thugs don't count. Perhaps the GOP just likes parades? The real answer is obvious. When it comes to protecting the people like Mitt Romney and his pay masters the Koch Brothers no amount of money is too much. But when it comes to the well being and safety of the 99%, any amount is too much, 'do it yourself damn it'.

Republican Convention Fail

Sorry GOP frauds you didn't build it on your own, you had help from the 99% that actually did the building while you got the benefit.
Hoisted by your own petard.

Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) InfoGraphic

According to the Electronic Freedom Foundation (EFF):

The leaked US IP chapter includes many detailed requirements that are more restrictive than current international standards, and would require significant changes to other countries’ copyright laws. These include obligations for countries to:

Place Greater Liability on Internet Intermediaries:
The TPP would force the adoption of the US DMCA Internet intermediaries copyright safe harbor regime in its entirety. For example, this would require Chile to rewrite its forward-looking 2010 copyright law that currently establishes a judicial notice-and-takedown regime, which
provides greater protection to Internet users’ expression and privacy than the DMCA.

Regulate Temporary Copies: Treat temporary reproductions of copyrighted works without copyright holders' authorization as copyright infringement. This was discussed but rejected at the intergovernmental diplomatic conference that created two key 1996 international copyright treaties, the WIPO Copyright Treaty and WIPO Performances and Phonograms Treaty.

Expand Copyright Terms: Create copyright terms well beyond the internationally agreed period in the 1994 Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS). Life + 70 years for works created by individuals, and following the US-Oman Free Trade Agreement, either 95 years after publication or 120 years after creation for corporate owned works (such as Mickey Mouse).

Enact a "Three-Step Test" Language That Puts Restrictions on Fair Use: The United States Trade Representative (USTR) is putting fair use at risk with restrictive language in the TPP's IP chapter. The US and Australia are both proposing very restrictive text, and Peru is willing to accommodate the bad language.

Escalate Protections for Digital Locks: It will also compel signatory nations to enact laws banning circumvention of digital locks (technological protection measures or TPMs) [PDF] that mirror the DMCA and treat violation of the TPM provisions as a separate offense, even when no copyright infringement is involved. This would require countries like New Zealand to completely rewrite its innovative 2008 copyright law, as well as override Australia’s carefully-crafted 2007 TPM regime exclusions for region-coding on movies on DVDs, video games, and players, and for embedded software in devices that restrict access to goods and services for the device—a thoughtful effort by Australian policy makers to avoid the pitfalls experienced with the US digital locks provisions. In the US, business competitors have used the DMCA to try to block printer cartridge refill services, competing garage door openers, and to lock mobile phones to particular network providers.

Ban Parallel Importation: Ban parallel importation of genuine goods acquired from other countries without the authorization of copyright owners.

Adopt Criminal Sanctions: Adopt criminal sanctions for copyright infringement that is done without a commercial motivation, based on the provisions of the 1997 US No Electronic Theft Act.

In short, countries would have to abandon any efforts to learn from the mistakes of the US and its experience with the DMCA over the last 12 years, and adopt many of the most controversial aspects of US copyright law in their entirety. At the same time, the US IP chapter does not export the limitations and exceptions in the US copyright regime like fair use, which have enabled freedom of expression and technological innovation to flourish in the US. It includes only a placeholder for exceptions and limitations. This raises serious concerns about other countries’ sovereignty and the ability of national governments to set laws and policies to meet their domestic priorities.

So in short it is a bad deal for consumers and advocates of free speech. Neither political party is willing to even mention it, and the broadcast news outlets are refusing to cover it because their parent companies are the ones pushing it.

Romney Brags About Sending American Jobs to China Because of the Slave-like Conditions

Here is the transcript of the video where Mitt Romney extolls the virtues of China and being born American:

"95% of life is set up for you if you were born in this country".
Oh.... so in America you have an infrastructure and government to rely on? Sounds like what Obama and Elizabeth Warren said that you are now calling communism.
"And, I remember going to ah, uh, sorry just to bore you with stories. When I was back in my private equity days, we went to China to buy a factory there."
Wait a minute Mitt, you claim to have had nothing to do with off shoring thousands of American jobs?

"It employed about 20,000 people. And they were almost all young women between the ages of about 18 and 22 or 23. They were saving for potentially becoming married. And they work in these huge factories, they made various uh, small appliances. And uh, as we were walking through this facility, seeing them work, the number of hours they worked per day, the pittance they earned, living in dormitories with uh, with little bathrooms at the end of maybe 10, 10 room, rooms."

NO EPA and zero taxes still couldn't match slave-like labor for profits.
Chinese air pollution
So you admit to working these women, many of whom were under age, like slaves and doing nothing to improve their living conditions? Note how he also mentions the true reason for buying a factory there rather than keeping it in the US, 'the pittance they earned'. So forget all the baloney Romney and the other Republicans are always trying to peddle about the EPA and taxes. NO EPA and zero taxes still couldn't match slave-like labor for profits.

And the rooms they have 12 girls per room. Three bunk beds on top of each other. You've seen, you've seen them? (Oh...yeah, yeah!) And, and, and around this factory was a fence, a huge fence with barbed wire and guard towers. And, and, we said gosh! I can't believe that you, you know, keep these girls in!"
Life at a Bain Factory

"And the rooms they have 12 girls per room. Three bunk beds on top of each other. You've seen, you've seen them? (Oh...yeah, yeah!) And, and, and around this factory was a fence, a huge fence with barbed wire and guard towers. And, and, we said gosh! I can't believe that you, you know, keep these girls in!"
Notice how he said didn't say 'Don't do that, it's immoral'.
"They said, no, no, no. This is to keep other people from coming in. Because people want so badly to come work in this factory that we have to keep them out. Or they will just come in here and start working and, and try and get compensated. So we, this is to keep people out."
Notice how he sounds gleeful at the prospect of millions eager to work in slavery like conditions? The added implication is that if America abolished the minimum wage and paid American workers like Mitt does in China it would be wonderful for the economy.

"And they said, actually Chinese New Year as the girls go home, sometimes they decide they've saved enough money and they don't come back to the factory. And he said, so, on the weekend after Chinese New Year there will be a line of people hundreds long, outside the factory, hoping that some girls haven't come back. And they can come to the factory. And, and so as we were experiencing this for the first time, going to see a factory like this in China some years ago."
This were he makes Obama's and Elizabeth Warrens point again that the GOP is now fraudulently distorting and calling communism.
"The Bain Partner I was with turned to me and said, you know, 95% of life is settled if you are born in America. This is uh, this is an amazing land and what we have is unique and fortunately it is so special we are sharing it with the world."

Bottom Line

There is an old saying, 'hoisted by your own petard', a petard was a sixteenth century bomb. If a petard were to detonate prematurely due to a faulty or short slow match, the engineer would be lifted by the explosion. Romney here has clearly done the political equivalent, completely destroying the GOP's whole meme of 'the government doesn't create anything, but instead just gets in the way'.

Neil Armstrong Aug 5, 1930 - Aug 25, 2012

Neil Alden Armstrong (August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012) was an American NASA astronaut, test pilot, aerospace engineer, university professor, United States Naval Aviator, and the first person to set foot upon the Moon.
Neil Armstrong August 5, 1930 – August 25, 2012

Neil Armstrong died today, August 25, 2012 and we are the lesser for it. He was a true American icon and hero if ever there was one. Best know for being the first man to walk on the moon and uttering these immortal words:
One small step for [a] man, One giant leap for mankind.

Although the official NASA flight plan called for a crew rest period before extra-vehicular activity, Armstrong requested that the EVA be moved to earlier in the evening, Houston time. Once Armstrong and Aldrin were ready to go outside, Eagle was depressurized, the hatch was opened and Armstrong made his way down the ladder first.

Apollo 11

At the bottom of the ladder, Armstrong said "I'm going to step off the LEM now" (referring to the Apollo Lunar Module). He then turned and set his left boot on the surface at 2:56 UTC July 21, 1969, then spoke the famous words "That's one small step for [a] man, one giant leap for mankind."

Apollo 11 Astronauts in their space suits.
In Space Suits

Armstrong had decided on this statement following a train of thought that he had had after launch and during the hours after landing. The broadcast did not have the "a" before "man", rendering the phrase a contradiction (as man in such use is synonymous with mankind). NASA and Armstrong insisted for years that static had obscured the "a", with Armstrong stating he would never make such a mistake, but after repeated listenings to recordings, Armstrong admitted he must have dropped the "a". Armstrong later said he "would hope that history would grant me leeway for dropping the syllable and understand that it was certainly intended, even if it was not said – although it might actually have been".

Bottom line

Going to space in our time has become almost mundane, something celebrities and billionaires can now do for the right price. Neil Armstrong went to the moon at a time when there little to no guarantee that he would ever return. He and the other Apollo 11 astronauts risked their lives in the name of science and national honor and expected little in return. Armstrong died Saturday following complications resulting from heart surgery, a according to family members.

Rudy Giuliani Let Slip Romney has Been Audited by IRS

On CBS Face the Nation with Bob Schieffer on Sunday August 19, 2012 Rudy Giuliani said this regarding Mitt Romney's refusal to release his tax returns:

I was a prosecutor, I prosecuted tax evasion cases, I defended tax evasion cases. In all these years nobody has ever accused him of a crime. The IRS has never brought a proceeding against him. You can be sure with the kind of money he made and the enormous charitable contributions that he appears to have made, maybe 15% or 20% to charity... this guy has been audited up and down, backwards and forwards.

Did you catch that? "This guy has been audited up and down, backwards and forwards." Looks like he let it slip that Mitt Romney has been audited by the IRS, thus contradicting his claim just seconds prior that he has never been accused of a crime. The IRS doesn't normally audit a person just because they make a lot of money. If Mitt Romney was audited it was because the IRS suspected him and or his many shell companies of committing tax evasion. Some have speculated that Mitt Romney took the amnesty deal by the IRS for people hiding money in off shore banks to either pay up with no criminal prosecution or not pay and risk going to jail if caught. We just don't know at this point, but Mitt Romney could follow the foot steps of his father, George Romney and release his returns and clear this up immediately. He however refuses to and adds if he did they would use it against him, thus further fueling speculation.

Rudy Giuliani "this guy has been audited up and down, backwards and forwards."
Did Mitt use IRS amnesty for his Swiss Bank accounts?

Bottom Line

Either Rudy Giuliani knows something and he is refusing to tell the public about Mitt Romney's tax evasion and shady off shore business dealings or he is lying about knowing Romney is above board and honest. It is simple logic that it has to be one or the other.

If Rudy Giuliani doesn't know about or hasn't seen Mitt Romney's tax returns than how can he truthfully say he is honest and above board? How can he honestly claim to know he gave so much to charity? Answer: He can't.

If Rudy Giuliani does know something about Mitt Romney's super secret Swiss Bank Accounts and tax returns, then clearly Rudy is withholding information when he let it slip Mitt Romney has been "audited up and down, backwards and forwards".

Is a Sea Food Diet the Problem or Answer?

This is interesting and important issue. However it is one thing to say 'stop over fishing' and not do anything about it. Like it or not humans need to eat food. Humans like protean based foods like fish, chicken, or beef. Urban aquaculture maybe the answer...

There are two main kinds of fish farming, one that uses pens to coral fish near shore. This has frequently been criticized for polluting the water with excess amounts of fish poop. The other type is raising the fish in out door ponds. While cheap, it can only be done in warmer areas like the southern states. It also has the problem of flooding, which has enabled tropical fish to be able to escape and become invasive pests like Asian Carp have become.

There is a new third type of indoor year round fish farming that is starting to catch on in some parts. One of the criticisms of traditional fish farming is that it just substitutes small fish for larger fish, which still depletes the natural fish stocks. The goal here is to end that cycle. Tilapia is a fish that can be fed insects or corn meal instead of other feeder fish. Thus helping end the damage to natural fish populations that are in decline worldwide.

Cities like Detroit that already have a growing urban farming boom would be ideal for this type of indoor year round fish farming. Sea food is the number three import into the United States behind oil and automobiles. Most of it comes from low wage countries like Vietnam or Peru. Every mile food has to travel is extra Carbon Di Oxide in the atmosphere, warming the planet. So in essence it is good for the planet, it is good for the oceans, and it is good for America. Eat up.

We Built This With Socialism?

New stadium construction and infrastructure costs were paid by a combination of team money ($53 M) and public money ($86 M).
Reverse Robin Hood Socialism Built This
First they had a commercial about a guy who claimed he didn't need any government help, then it turned out his business was started with gov loans and contracts. The New Hampshire Union Leader’s John DiStato today reports that in 1999 the business in question, Gilchrist Metal,

“received $800,000 in tax-exempt revenue bonds issued by the New Hampshire Business Finance Authority ‘to set up a second manufacturing plant and purchase equipment to produce high definition television broadcasting equipment’…” In addition, in 2011, Gilchrist Metal “received two U.S. Navy sub-contracts totaling about $83,000 and a smaller, $5,600 Coast Guard contract in 2008…”

Now the 2012 GOP convention in Tampa Florida, will be equally laughably themed "We built this". Problem is it will be at a stadium that was built in large part via Reverse Robin Hood Socialism. The GOP has carefully scrubbed Wikipedia of any references to this stadium being publicly financed, but NHL documents tell the true story.

According to NHL documents the Tampa Bay Times Forum arena was built with 62% of public money, or as it is normally known by Fox News and the GOP, Crony Capitalism or Communism. Take your pick of regressive labels they would apply if it was at a DNC convention. The truth of the matter is it in fact a classic case of Reverse Robin Hood Socialism. The local tax payers have picked up the lion share of the financing, and the  billionaire owner and the millionaire players get the financial benefit. This is typical across America, but never seems even worth a mention among regressives. The only type of socialism they seem to care about is when it helps a 12 year rape victim, an out of work 45 year old mother, or a sick senior citizen

According to NHL documents the Tampa Bay Times Forum arena was built with 62% of public money, or as it is normally known by Fox News and the GOP, Crony Capitalism or Communism.
Sorry you didn't build by yourself
The speech that President Obama gave that echoed Elizabeth Warren's viral video about "You didn't build this on your own without any help" is the whole impetus for their dishonest theme. The stadium proves they have no problem with hypocrisy on an epic scale. Here are some samples of the laughable nonsense they are trying to deceive the public with via to Media Matters:

Fox & Friends Deceptively Edited Obama's Comments On Small Business. Fox News deceptively edited Obama's remarks to make it seem as though he was claiming that small business owners do not deserve any credit for their own success. Obama's actual remarks made clear that he attributed the success of businesses to both the individual drive of business owners and to the benefits provided by influences such as great teachers, and government-created infrastructure. [Media Matters, 7/16/12]

Within Two Days, Fox Spent More Than Two Hours Of Airtime On "You Didn't Build That" Lie. In the two days that followed Fox's initial misrepresentation of Obama's remarks, the network devoted 42 segments and more than two hours of airtime to misrepresenting Obama's "you didn't build that" remarks. [Media Matters, 7/18/12]

Rupert Murdoch Endorsed The Falsehood On Twitter. In a post to his Twitter account, News Corp. CEO Rupert Murdoch wrote: "Yesterday Obama went off script, showed real self ie government omnipotent, individuals secondary. Must be big damage." [Media Matters, 7/19/12]

Fox Attacked Nonpartisan Journalists For Ignoring The Made-Up Story. Fox blasted mainstream media outlets for not covering Obama's remarks for four days, despite the fact that the remarks were ripped out of context. [Media Matters, 7/19/12]

Fox & Friends Tried To Rebut Charge That Video Was Deceptively Edited With New Deceptively Edited Video. Fox & Friends subsequently offered to rebut assertions that they had misrepresented Obama by showing the context of Obama's remarks. But the new clip that Fox & Friends played still omitted the relevant context. [Media Matters, 7/26/12]

Fox Hosted Karl Rove And His New Anti-Obama Attack Ad Repeating "Didn't Build That" Falsehood. Karl Rove produced an ad based on the misrepresentation of Obama's remarks and then touted that ad on Fox News' The O'Reilly Factor. [Media Matters, 7/25/12]

Are You Too Dumb to Run For Office?

On Fox News, in this clip Meghan Kelly  was asking their typical cadre of loud mouths for hire this question: "If you don't know who the President of the United States is, should you be allowed to vote?" I have some better questions that need to be asked. I think it much much much more important to question the intelligence of the people we elect rather than trying to smear voters. Now doing my best Jeff Foxworthy here they are.

  1. If you think there is a type of rape that is illegitimate, you might be too dumb to run for public office.
  2. If you think a woman can't get pregnant by being raped, you might be too dumb to run for public office.
  3. If you think critical thinking is a bad thing, you might be too dumb to run for public office.
  4. If you think the Universe is 6,000 years old, you might be too dumb to run for public office.
  5. If you think evolution is just a theory but don't know what theory means,  you might be too dumb to run for public office.
  6. If you think getting an education makes you a snob, you might be too dumb to run for public office.
  7. If you think an Earthquake is God trying to call your attention to the deficit, you might be too dumb to run for public office.
  8. If you think vaccines cause mental retardation, you might be too dumb to run for public office.
  9. If you think dog fighting is a legitimate sport because the bible says so, you might be too dumb to run for public office.
  10. If you think Global Warming was invented by Al Gore and is a Communist Plot, you might be too dumb to run for public office.
It's sad to say, no make that tragic that we have people this dumb making decisions that effect 330 million Americans, but we do...

Just a Reminder of Why Elections Matter

The Tax Policy Center has said Mitt Romney's plan would raise taxes on the poor and give millionaires massive tax cuts, all the while increasing the national debt by trillions.
The Romney Plan: The rich get tax cuts, the poor gets the shaft

Pual Ryan has repeatedly tried to privatize Social Security and turn Medicare into a discount coupon scam.
The Ryan Plan

Paul Ryan Tries to ReWrite the Last Decade

Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan are running away from Ryan's history of trying to privatize Social Security and abolish Medicare / Medicaid. The trillion dollar question is will the public buy into this massive historical revisionism? The two are now trying to pretend Paul Ryan and his so-called plan to destroy the social safety net for senior citizens never happened.

One bit of sickening irony, Paul Ryan who comes from a wealthy family, collected Social Security Survivor Benefits after his father died, which he then used to pay for college. So it was OK for him, but some how it now has become 'evil' and 'immoral' and 'we just can't afford it'. Remember, he didn't need the money, it wasn't sent to him automatically by some out of control government welfare state, he had to apply for it.

Health Insurance Coverage Rates Have Plummeted Since 2000

According to data released by FRED, the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis data site, Health Insurance coverage rates are down dramatically from a decade ago. In the year 2000 it was at it's peak of nearly 87% of the population, today it stands near 83%. This means approximately 54 million America lack Health Insurance coverage.

This means approximately 54 million Americans lack health insurance coverage. However this should change dramatically in the coming 2 years when the Affordable Health Care Act goes into effect.

Mitt Romney and the Regressive Republicans have repeatedly made the claim that the free market will take of the problem so we don't need what they have derisively labeled "Obama Care". If indeed they where correct, the graph would have a different trajectory. The chart from FRED clearly shows the rate has been dropping since 2000, long before President Obama was even an Illinois Senator.

Mitt Romney states on his website:
Competition drives improvements in efficiency and effectiveness, offering consumers higher quality goods and services at lower cost. It can have the same effect in the health care system, if given the chance to work.

This completely ignores the fact that most people get health insurance through their employer, they don't shop around. The only people that shop around are self employed and the unemployed, if they can afford it. Most can't or end up taking some cut rate worthless policy that only covers emergency visits to the hospital and little else.

What Mitt Romney and the Regressive Republicans really mean by this is allowing insurance companies to be able to sell health insurance across state lines. This is the approach used when banking was deregulated. The result is the credit card companies are all now legally located in South Dakota, the state that allows the highest interest rates and has the worst consumer protections. If Romney's plan is enacted the health insurance companies will do the same. They will go to the state with the worst coverage rules for consumers and the best rules for them from a profit stand point.

Next Mitt Romney states this:
On his first day in office, Mitt Romney will issue an executive order that paves the way for the federal government to issue Obamacare waivers to all fifty states. He will then work with Congress to repeal the full legislation as quickly as possible.

Never mind the fact that this is likely beyond the scope of the law,  Romney's plan consists of going back to what we already had, minus any of the provisions in Obama Care that have already gone into effect. Provisions like keeping your kids on your insurance up to 25 years in age and the prohibition on denying coverage for people with preexisting conditions. Clearly the chart demonstrates why this is a bad idea. 54+ million uninsured Americans is a price Mitt Romney is willing to pay in order so big business can continue it's current all time record after tax profits.

Republican Todd Akin Says Woman Don't Get Pregnant From Legitimate Rape

You literally can't make this stuff up. This is what the Regressive Republican nominee for US Senate in Missouri Rep Todd Akin said when asked on a local TV talk show if there should be an acceptation for abortion in the case of rape:
First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare. If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down.
I am not sure what qualifies as a  "legitimate rape" versus an "illegitimate rape" in Rep Todd Akin's mind, but rape is rape. Either it happened or it didn't. There isn't a qualifier for rape like 'she had it coming' or 'she's my daughter so I have a right to do it'.

But lets set aside his Taliban attitude towards women for a moment, do we really want a guy in the US Senate that is this utterly ignorant of basic medical science? Does he think woman can merely dispense with birth control measures and simply pray away a pregnancy? Perhaps he would like to explain the approximately 32,000 children born each year due to rape and incest in the US each year? I guess in these cases in Rep. Todd Akin's mind, the women were simply not praying hard enough or they are lying about being raped because they are immoral feminists who don't know their place.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Medical University of South Carolina has in fact studied this very issue of pregnancies rates for rape victims. They determined that rape-related pregnancy occurs with significant frequency. It is a cause of many unwanted pregnancies and is closely linked with family and domestic violence. Further more they state as we address the epidemic of unintended pregnancies in the United States, greater attention and effort should be aimed at preventing and identifying unwanted pregnancies that result from sexual victimization.

Bottom Line

Economic policies and morality aside, America can simply not maintain a technological and scientific lead if we continue to elect people who would flunk a third grade science class. Perhaps instead of trying to restrict minorities and students from voting we should require an intelligence test to run for office. In these tough economic times we simply can't afford to suffer fools like Todd Akin, Michele Bachmann, Steve King or Louie Gohmert, we deserve better. Much better.

First of all, from what I understand from doctors [pregnancy from rape] is really rare. If it's a legitimate rape, the female body has ways to try to shut that whole thing down. ~ Todd Akin

Paul Ryan Lobbied for Bain Offshore Tax Loopholes

Paul Ryan argued against the Bush administration in closing the loopholes that allow American companies to skirt American taxes by setting up off-shore shell companies and doing what is know as a Corporate Tax Inversion
Island Boy Paul Ryan

In this clip Paul Ryan argues against the Bush administration in closing the loopholes that allow American companies to skirt American taxes by setting up off-shore shell companies and doing what is know as a Corporate Tax Inversion. Seen here questioning International Tax Expert Stephen Salch, over and over if closing these loopholes would somehow hurt American private equity markets. Stephen Salch responds by explaining why he is completely off base. He states that corporations can borrow in the US, but it doesn't mean they will use the money here, and it is nothing but a tax dodge that has nothing to do with banking or private equity markets as Ryan tried to imply.

At one time, so-called inversion transactions were quite popular. A U.S. corporation — for example, a company such as Bain Capital would create a new foreign corporation located in a tax haven like the Cayman Islands [See: Where Mitt Romney's Money Lives]. The shareholders of the U.S. corporation would convey their stock to the new foreign corporation in exchange for the latter's stock.

As a result, the U.S. corporation would become a subsidiary of the new foreign corporation. Further, through a series of transactions executed after this relationship was created, the income earned by foreign affiliates of the U.S. corporation could be sheltered from U.S. taxation. Moreover, it was even possible, through the institution of certain intragroup arrangements, to shelter a portion of the domestic income of the U.S. corporation from taxation.

Who Wants to Kill Julian Assange?

Julian Assange, the Wikileaks founder's epic may coming to a critical climax. On August 16, 2012 he was granted asylum by Ecuador after hiding out in their London embassy for two months while facing extradition to Sweden. RT reporter Marina Portnaya explains the reaction from the United States, which has accused the whistleblower for revealing some secret information via Wikileaks. RT is the one network you can count on to give you the unvarnished truth in this matter.

Ecuador Grants Julian Assange Sanctuary

Obama's War on Whistleblowers

The UK says it will storm the embassy if they don't hand over Julian Assange. Imagine if China stormed our embassy when we had Chen Guangcheng in our embassy a few months ago? Think back to Iran in November 4, 1979, when the Iran Revolutionary Guard seized the American embassy in Tehran.

The Iran hostage crisis was a diplomatic crisis between Iran and the United States where 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days from November 4, 1979, to January 20, 1981, after a group of Islamist students and militants took over the American Embassy in Tehran in support of the Iranian Revolution
Iranian Hostage Crisis of 1979
England is threatening to revoke Ecuador's diplomatic status and raid their embassy in order to extradite Julian Assange to Sweden. Yet no one revoked Switzerland's diplomatic status when they refused to extradite film maker Roman Polanksi, who was convicted of drugging and raping a 13 year old girl.

And no one has revoked or threatened to revoke England's diplomatic status for refusing to extradite convicted pedophile Shawn Sullivan to face trial in Minnesota for raping and sexually molesting a 14 year old girl and two 11 year old girls.

Sweden claims they only want him for questioning, case in point he has never been charged with any crime by Swedish prosecutors. He is accused by a woman who is known to have CIA ties, of not using a condom. If Assange gets sent to Sweden it is guaranteed he will then be sent to the US to answer for espionage charges.

He is not a US citizen and has not been accused of doing anything other than publishing information. The US likes to claim that it has freedom of speech and press, this proves otherwise. Freedom to only say things that don't rock the boat is synonymous with an illusion of actual freedom. The United States government would like to assert what Wikileaks and Julian Assange did is espionage. The question is by what authority does the United States claim that a person who is neither a US citizen nor committed in any crimes on US soil can be dragged to the US and charged?

Espionage or spying involves a government or individual obtaining information that is considered secret or confidential without the permission of the holder of the information. Espionage is inherently clandestine, as it is taken for granted that it is unwelcome and, in many cases illegal and punishable by law. It is a subset of intelligence gathering—which otherwise may be conducted from public sources and using perfectly legal and ethical means.

Wikileaks has exposed more crime and corruption by government and big business than all the news organizations in the world put together and that is real reason they are after him. The real crime is that we even need a Wikileaks to learn about what our government is really doing.

Just another story you will never hear about on cable news. The regressive right likes to pretend they are for limited government and are always crying crocodile tears about the loss of freedom yet people on Fox News have called for Julian Assange's death on numerous occasions. MSNBC doesn't want to say anything to make Obama look bad. Joe Biden has in fact called Julian Assange a high tech terrorist.  CNN is just too lazy and incompetent to give the story any real coverage, which is a shame.

If you are actually concerned about a big brother 1984 style government I can't think of a more clear and persuasive case to make that point yet at the same time more ignored story by the main stream media.

Reverse Robin Hood

Mitt Romney's motto "Steal from the poor and give to the rich".
Steal from the poor and give to the rich.

The other day President Obama said this about Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney tax plan:

I found that amusing because I have been saying something very similar for some time now [Reverse Robin Hood Socialist], except in reference to Regressives in general.  But what is more ironic is that Paul Ryan's hero Ayn Rand actually agrees. This is what she said about Ronald Reagan back in 1976:

Now I want to give you a brief indication of the kinds of issues that are coming up, on which you might want to know my views.

1. The Presidential election of 1976. I urge you, as emphatically as I can, not to support the candidacy of Ronald Reagan. I urge you not to work for or advocate his nomination, and not to vote for him. My reasons are as follows: Mr. Reagan is not a champion of capitalism, but a conservative in the worst sense of that word—i.e., an advocate of a mixed economy with government controls slanted in favor of business rather than labor (which, philosophically, is as untenable a position as one could choose—see Fred Kinnan in Atlas Shrugged, pp. 541-2). This description applies in various degrees to most Republican politicians, but most of them preserve some respect for the rights of the individual. Mr. Reagan does not: he opposes the right to abortion.

Even the goddess of the Tea Party Ayn Rand recognized that our system is inherently rigged in favor of big business and the wealthy. Since her death the system has gone light years ahead toward this bias. This point however never seems to be brought up or mentioned by the Regressives who claim to be her ardent proponents. Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan intend to just double down on this warped system that Rand mentions with her critique of Reagan via a tax plan that raises taxes on the poor while giving massive tax cuts to the rich and big business, according to the Tax Policy Center.
