Ecuador Grants Julian Assange Sanctuary

Obama's War on Whistleblowers

The UK says it will storm the embassy if they don't hand over Julian Assange. Imagine if China stormed our embassy when we had Chen Guangcheng in our embassy a few months ago? Think back to Iran in November 4, 1979, when the Iran Revolutionary Guard seized the American embassy in Tehran.

The Iran hostage crisis was a diplomatic crisis between Iran and the United States where 52 Americans were held hostage for 444 days from November 4, 1979, to January 20, 1981, after a group of Islamist students and militants took over the American Embassy in Tehran in support of the Iranian Revolution

England is threatening to revoke Ecuador's diplomatic status and raid their embassy in order to extradite Julian Assange to Sweden. Yet no one revoked Switzerland's diplomatic status when they refused to extradite film maker Roman Polanksi, who was convicted of drugging and raping a 13 year old girl.

And no one has revoked or threatened to revoke England's diplomatic status for refusing to extradite convicted pedophile Shawn Sullivan to face trial in Minnesota for raping and sexually molesting a 14 year old girl and two 11 year old girls.

Sweden claims they only want him for questioning, case in point he has never been charged with any crime by Swedish prosecutors. He is accused by a woman who is known to have CIA ties, of not using a condom. If Assange gets sent to Sweden it is guaranteed he will then be sent to the US to answer for espionage charges.

He is not a US citizen and has not been accused of doing anything other than publishing information. The US likes to claim that it has freedom of speech and press, this proves otherwise. Freedom to only say things that don't rock the boat is synonymous with an illusion of actual freedom. The United States government would like to assert what Wikileaks and Julian Assange did is espionage. The question is by what authority does the United States claim that a person who is neither a US citizen nor committed in any crimes on US soil can be dragged to the US and charged?

Espionage or spying involves a government or individual obtaining information that is considered secret or confidential without the permission of the holder of the information. Espionage is inherently clandestine, as it is taken for granted that it is unwelcome and, in many cases illegal and punishable by law. It is a subset of intelligence gathering—which otherwise may be conducted from public sources and using perfectly legal and ethical means.

Wikileaks has exposed more crime and corruption by government and big business than all the news organizations in the world put together and that is real reason they are after him. The real crime is that we even need a Wikileaks to learn about what our government is really doing.

Just another story you will never hear about on cable news. The regressive right likes to pretend they are for limited government and are always crying crocodile tears about the loss of freedom yet people on Fox News have called for Julian Assange's death on numerous occasions. MSNBC doesn't want to say anything to make Obama look bad. Joe Biden has in fact called Julian Assange a high tech terrorist.  CNN is just too lazy and incompetent to give the story any real coverage, which is a shame.

If you are actually concerned about a big brother 1984 style government I can't think of a more clear and persuasive case to make that point yet at the same time more ignored story by the main stream media.
