Snow Storm in Egypt Fails to Disprove Global Warming

The rate of ice loss in the Arctic is staggering. Since 1979, the volume of Summer Arctic sea ice has declined by more than 80% and accelerating faster than scientists believed it would, or even could melt. The first ice-free summer in the Arctic Ocean is expected to happen between 2016 and 2022.

One exceptionally cold winter or hot summer doesn't prove much, it's long term trends that matter, and as this video wonderfully illustrates the trend is not good. According the National Snow and Ice Data Center monthly November ice extent for 1978 to 2013 shows a decline of –4.9% per decade relative to the 1981 to 2010 average. In years of low sea ice, the jet stream weakens and slows, sending loops of air currents further south. These loops can produce extreme weather patterns, such as pounding one region [like Egypt] with an unusual flurry of blizzards or parching a normally wet area with an extended drought.

However perpetual loudmouth Rush Limbaugh thinks he knows better:
Cancel Christmas.  Greenpeace, it is UK website.  A Downton Abbey actor as Santa Claus, lying.  There's more ice at the North and South Pole than there's been in a long time.  Antarctic temperatures hit a record low this week, minus-135 degrees.  The ice is not melting at the North Pole.  Santa Claus and the elves are not floating away.  It isn't melting, and Christmas isn't gonna be cancelled.  But that's not stopping these people from using, toying with, frightening, and scaring kids -- and this actor goes along with it, and they claim that they're the ones who really care about the children?
I guess Rush has some magical source information about Arctic Sea Ice levels that the National Snow and Ice Data Center doesn't. Perhaps he should stick calling women sluts or getting mad for people pointing out the actual Saint Nicholas looked more like Bin Laden than an old guy from Norway.

  1. We have to go by the oceans temperatures on average, As the Oceans create the storms that are like the one that happen in Egypt!! As Global Warming is Climate Change

    1. Thank you for you comment. You are correct, the oceans cover two thirds of the planet and rightly so have a huge impact.
